Sundowns official confirm Billian Talks

A Mamelodi Sundowns official has confirmed speculations that the club are in talks to sign Khama Billiat from Kaizer Chiefs.

Following widespread reports that Sundowns are attempting to resign Billiatfrom Chiefs, including coach Pitso Mosimane saying that “any player has a price,” Sundowns’ General Manager Yogesh Singh has admitted that the two clubs are communicating.

“This is a sensitive matter, and we have mutual respect for Kaizer Chiefs – so I won’t be disclosing too much information. But what I can tell you is that we have been in ongoing discussions for some time now about Khama Billiat,” explained Singh to Soccer Laduma.

While Billiat has missed Chiefs’ first two Absa Premiership games against Highlands Park and Black Leopards, the club’s coach Ernst Middendorp has repeatedly emphasized that the 28-year-old Zimbabwean has been missing through injury - but suspicions of a move away from Naturena to Chloorkop are not helped by the fact that the transfer window will remain open until August 31st.

“What I can say is that the transfer window ends on August 31 and obviously all over the world players are moving during this period and it is no different here. If there’s no movement beyond that, then it is what it is. And the respect between the two clubs will remain,” added Singh.

Meanwhile, Chiefs will be out of action for the next two weeks before meeting SuperSport United on 24 August, Sundowns will be in action on Wednesday at Chippa United.
