Relegated Free State Stars head coach Themba Sithole has confirmed that former Orlando Pirates striker Ayanda Nkosi is set to offered a deal despite being unfit.
Nkosi has been training with Ea Lla Koto following his departure with the Buccaneers at the end of the 2018/19 season due to poor showing during his loan stay with National First Division side Jomo Cosmos.
The 26-year-old joined the Mayfair outfit in 2016 from Stars, but struggled to nail down a starting berth due to stiff competition and reported off-field issues.
The Bethlehem-based club will be competing in the Glad Africa Championship following their relegation from the Premier Soccer League during the 2018/19 season.
“No, no, no, we haven’t signed anything,” said Sithole when asked if the striker has finally put pen-to-paper, as quoted by KickOff.com.
“He is training with us but he hasn’t signed. Ja we have to make sure we assess and make sure when we make a decision it’s the right one, because I don’t know how long he’s been out of action so we have to work on his fitness.
“But as we speak now he looks a little bit too heavy. It will depend on how he pushes himself as well. But our job is to try and help him. But we are going to sign him.”
Ea Lla Koto face Ajax Cape Town in their opening Glad Africa Championship encounter on Saturday, August 17.
